Imphal, July 23: Among the 237 vehicle lifters arrested by the police, 10 happened to be state force belonging to IRB, Police and VDF. This was stated by the Home Minister Gaikhangam while answering to MLA Ibomcha during question hour of the ongoing legislative assembly session today.
The home Minister further said that from April 1, 2012 till date a total of 237 vehicle lifters were arrested by the state police. Among the 237 vehicle lifters 4 happened to be IRB personnel, 3 policemen and another 3 happen to be VDF personnel. He said among the vehicle recovered from the vehicle lifters 109 vehicles were returned to the vehicle owners and 21 are still in the custody of police.However except for one case none of the cases has been charge sheeted by the concerned police. Gaikhangam said that at present 193 persons are in judicial custody and 44 had been released on bail. Among the police personnel one VDF personnel has been terminated from service.
