The All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) observed International Women’s Day at Gandhi Memorial Hall in Imphal today under the theme “In the Embrace of Women’s Power,” highlighting the significant role of women in society.
The programme was organised under the presidency of Prof. Dr. T. Tampha, Dean of the Department of Manipuri at Manipur University, and Y. Kunjarani, president of AMAWOVA.
Ima Soraisam Ibechoubi attended the event as chief guest, while Grace L. Ibomcha was the guest of honour. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Heikham Romen Sharma of Manipur University.
Other dignitaries present at the function included G. Priyokumar, Principal of DM College of Arts. A message from the Governor’s wife was also shared during the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by Longjam Thoibisana.
The observance highlighted the association’s continued commitment to voluntary service and its efforts to promote women’s empowerment and social participation.
AMAWOVA has been regularly organising programmes to mark important occasions, including International Women’s Day and the organisation’s foundation day, with the participation of academicians, social leaders and members of the public.
