ALLAFUM lauds role of media in highlighting Loktak issues

On behalf of the organising committee of the world wetlands day organised on 2nd of February 2016, the All Loktak Lake Areas Fishermen’s Union Manipur (ALLAFUM) has expressed their sincere appreciation to the President of AMWJU and the media fraternity for wide dissemination of the Loktak wetlands conservation campaign to the public in the form of fact finding visit and assessing the present situation inside the Loktak Lake with special reference to Nambul River Basin (Yangoi Marin).
Expressing their heartfelt appreciation, O.Rajen Singh, Secretary of ALLAFUM said that the media fraternity will continue to cover more news items in the day to come on public interest as those news dailies have put up this international issue of Loktak Lake in their respective news headlines, front pages.
O Rajen Singh further said that media’s role in Loktak wetlands public awareness campaign is the need of the hour for our future generation. Media is a vital tool to bridge the gap between the ground reality and the common people, he added.
He also said that media firm ought to be respected and cooperated to bring out reliable information for the welfare of the general public as it has been noted that media is the fourth pillar of the nation.
