Imphal, June 1: All is set now for conduct of the Imphal Municipal Corporation Election. Security has been tightened at all the polling booth located at the 27 wards in Imphal area where the polling will take place tomorrow from 8 am to 4 pm . A total of 87 candidates are in the fray for the 27 councillor. A total 127 candidates are contesting for the 54-member development committee member.
The ruling Congress and the opposition BJP have fielded 26 candidates each for the ward councillor seats, spread in the Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
Both congress and BJP are playing corruption cards and local issues to win this election.
A total of 1,75,864 voters will exercise their franchise in the IMC elections.
