AJWJU observes 21st Foundation Day

Jiribam, Sept 23:

The All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union (AJWJU), Jiribam District observed its 21st Foundation Day today at AJWJU conference hall, Jiribam.

The celebration was graced by K. Janaki Devi, Adhyaksha Zilla Parishad, Jiribam as Chief Guest while Meinam Joymangol, President, All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union as functional President  and Ng. Biswajit Singh, Advisor, All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union, S. Shanti Devi, Ex-Chairperson, Jiribam Municipal Council as guest of honours.

Unlike every year, this year the foundation day function was observed simply with the attendance of few invitees from the civil Society Organisations of Jiribam and  Former members of AJWJU due to crises of COVID-19 pandemic.

The welcome and keynote address of the function was delivered by S. Roshimala, General Secy, AJWJU.

In her speech, S. Roshimala Devi has highlighted the pivotal roles of journalists and added that due to less numbers of media persons in Jiribam District, they faced many difficulties to provide media coverage in various places of Jiribam simultaneously. 

She also sought the cooperation of the people of Jiribam.

During the programme, the All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union honoured the families and kins of four departed journalist of Jiribam for their devoted workdone in the field of journalism at Jiribam.

On the speech of Chief Guest, K. Janaki Devi emphasized the pivotal role of journalists in this 21st century to help develop a better society, she also encouraged the media fraternities of Jiribam for their tremendous work done to bring the news and views in the light of people.  She said, let us take Jiribam towards development together. 

She also assured to extend all possible help for the development of Journalists Union of Jiribam.
