Ajay Kumar Bhalla given additional charge as Nagaland Governor

Following the death of Nagaland Governor La Ganesan in Chennai on Friday, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been given the additional charge of Nagaland. Rashtrapati Bhavan made the announcement on Saturday evening.
La Ganesan, a veteran organiser of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and one of BJP’s longest-serving leaders in Tamil Nadu, passed away on August 16.
Bhalla, who was Union Home Secretary until retirement, was appointed Governor of Manipur in December 2024. Within two months of his appointment, President’s Rule was imposed in the state in February this year, making him responsible for the state’s administration.
