AIR Prog. Executive meeting held at Mokokchung

A two-day meeting of the heads of programme of All India Radio stations in the North Eastern Region began yesterday in Mokokchung district of Nagaland organized by the Zonal Programme Co-ordination Committee. Issues which are relevant for progress and better linking of all stations were discussed.
Addressing the inaugural function, Adviser North Eastern Region, D.N. Basumatari while expressing concern on fiscal prudence of the stations, urged upon members to maintain austerity measures and give their best effort with a balanced attitude to earn revenue.
K.V. Ramachandran, Deputy Director General (E), All India Radio Kohima who also addressed the gathering said, coming together of AIR stations will have a greater advantage to strengthen the face of the stations in the region. During the discussion, issues relating to conduct of programmes, need for Studio refurbishing, problems on Studio and Transmitter Linkings, requirement of FM transmitter for wider coverage of NES programmes, Transfer policy of staff, among others were also discussed. Senior officials from Zonal offices of Northeastern states and programme officials from 26 Radio Stations, including Sikkim are attending the meet. On the second and final day today, the meeting deliberated on administrative matters and visit some promotional Centers under Mokokchung district.
