AIPPC submits memorandum NRC Chief for inclusion of Indigenous people of Barak Valley

The Assam Indigenous Peoples’ Protection Committee (AIPPC) submitted its memoranda to NRC chief Prateek Hajela on Monday mentioning various demands.

Their memoranda sought the NRC coordinator to include all the names of Indigenous Peoples’ of Barak Valley in the final draft list which will be published on July, 2019.

AIPPC also mentioned in their submission that Indigenous communities of Barak Valley region of Assam have facing a lot of problems regarding ongoing NRC hearing process.

The Indigenous forum also claimed that there have been inclusion of many illegal immigrants in the final draft list of NRC and so the committee demanded to reverify the same on the basis of their Application Registration number(ARN).

AIPPC also demanded to recognize the Indigenous communities of Barak region as Original inhabitants and to exclude the illegal immigrants.

The submission of memoranda was attended by many functionaries of AIPPC including Seram Herajit, Tomij Uddin, Shahdev Rajbangshi and Jasim Uddin amomgst other.
