Agitating students destroys college properties, tore answer sheets at GP College

Imphal, June 4: A large number of computers, laboratory equipments and school properties were destroyed and answer sheets were torn, besides snatching mobile phone from a teacher and destroying it, after student volunteers of College Student Council of Manipur (CSCM)- a conglomerate of students from 13 colleges stormed GP Women’s College to enforce their declaration to boycott the BA and BSc 4th Semester examination which began today. The boycott was called demanding the release of the two students arrested by the police for locking the office of the Education (U) last week. General Secretary of GP Women’s College Sarjulata Yumnam appealed to the agitating body to desist from disturbing the examination for the remaining papers, adding that they have been volunteering for the agitation to implement ILPS in the state and will continue doing so after the examination. The student volunteers of CSCM also tried to disturb the examination at DM College but were prevented from disrupting the examination by the security personnel deployed for the purpose.
Boycott supporters locked the Administration Blocks of Thoubal College and Waikhom Mani College early in the morning today but were later removed and examination conducted after security personnel reached the spot. Examination was also conducted at YK College Wangjing under tight security
