After blast effect: Mass protest staged at Khwairamband Keithel; shops shut; road block at Imphal East DC road

Staging a protest demonstration against yesterday’s bomb blast at Khwairamband Keithel temporary market shed today, women vendors appeal the responsible groups and state government not to play with people’s lives again.
Besides, they also demanded the state government to install working CC TV cameras within 5 days time instead of installing for namesake. ‘If any untoward incidents happen in future, government should take responsibility.’ During the protest almost all shops and business establishment in and around Khwairamband keithel, Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar were shut down.
Mentioned may be made that at least 3 persons including a student were killed in yesterday’s blast at Temporary market complex of Khwairamband keithel. Over 20 were injured.
Later the women protestors staged a rally in and around Imphal city shouting slogan against the blast.
Protesting yesterday bomb blast which killed 3 persons in the heart of Imphal city, large number of people today came out to the street of Imphal East DC road and block all sorts of vehicular movement along the road. One among the deceased killed in the inhuman blast is from Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai and is identified as Md. Suman Khan (age 22) son of Md. Islamuddin. He is a student of DM Science and studying TDC 2nd Semester and work as salesman at a shop near the blast site on part time basis. Enraged on the news about his dead several hundreds of men and women today came out to the street and pour their anger by stopping all sorts of vehicular movement along   the route since 7 am today morning. The irate mob also vandalizes a Maruti Alto Car. Later, a team of police calm down the anger of the mob at around 11 am and allowed some of the representatives of the agitating mob to meet the DC Imphal East.
On the other hand, Workers’ Union Manipur also staged a sit-in-protest at Uripok Chakkrikom. Speaking to reporters, president of union K Landon said that the workers who are responsible for cleaning of Imphal city are now having apprehension of cleaning the town as they may be the first victim of such attack. He said as the state home department could not control the law and order situation, there is no guarantee to the safety of the workers. He appealed to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of the people.
