Administrative Committees to function until 6th General Panchayat Election

The Manipur Cabinet has resolved to continue Administrative Committees for management of all Gram Panchayats in the state until the notification of the 6th General Panchayat Election.
The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held on February 6, 2026, as per a notification issued by Sunan A Thokchom, Joint Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Manipur.
Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been instructed to initiate necessary steps for issuing notifications for the appointment of Administrative Committees for each Gram Panchayat within their respective jurisdictions. The constitution of these committees will be subject to approval and vetting by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
The duly constituted Administrative Committees will exercise all powers and discharge all duties and functions of the concerned Gram Panchayats, including those vested in their committees, as well as the responsibilities of the Pradhan and Up-Pradhan under the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1994, and other applicable laws.
The term of each Administrative Committee will be 6 months or until the notification of the 6th General Panchayat Election, whichever is earlier.
