Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur have joined forces with the medical community in a nationwide protest, demanding justice for Moumita Debnath. Demonstrations were held at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal and Thoubal Hospitals, where a large crowd of students and ABVP members gathered.
In a statement, ABVP Manipur highlighted the urgent need for a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, with protesters carrying placards and chanting slogans calling for accountability. “We stand in solidarity with Moumita Debnath and her family,” said Gautam Philem, ABVP State Secretary. “The brutal killing of an innocent person is a grave injustice, and it is our duty to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. We urge the authorities to act swiftly and decisively.”
The protest also emphasized the broader issue of safety and security across the nation, advocating for reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future. The peaceful demonstration underscored the commitment of ABVP Manipur and RIMS students to uphold justice and support victims of violence.
Among the participants were ABVP State Joint Secretary Rajengong Golmei, ABVP Karyakartas, and medical students Sewantika Kaphle, David, Chingkhei, Yaiphabi, Geetanjali, Lanchenbi, Sandhyrani, Anshuman Tripati, Praveen, Romiya, Oinam Bharat Singh, R.K. Rabichandra Singh, Dr. Indira Aheibam, and Abhishek Kumar. The protesters vowed to continue their advocacy until justice for Moumita Debnath is served.
