Imphal, July 2:

Manipur Patriotic Party has written a letter to the Prime Minister of India urging him to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) Pact with the Kuki militant outfits and disarm the miscreants at the earliest.
The Manipur Patriotic Party said that abrogation of the SoO Pact is the only way to restore immediate peace in the state.
“We are convinced that the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO) has been wrongly informed about the genesis and the present state of the crisis. As a result, the crisis goes on”, the letter stated. The party also submitted a presentation to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stating that the Congress party is the architect of SoO arrangement in Manipur, and that SoO has become the grooming platform of Kuki armed gangs in Manipur.
The letter further stated that Haobam Ibomcha, son of late Haobam Kesho, Ningombam Ibomcha, son of Ningombam Iboton, and Naorem Rajkumar son of Naorem Sanjoy, all of hailing from Khoijumantabi Village of Bishenpur district, Manipur, have become the latest victims of Kuki militant aggression at the dawn of Sunday. The militants swooped down from the hills and carried out the unfortunate attack. In addition to the deceased, several villagers were also injured during the inhuman attack in the presence of heavily armed central Indian security forces.
It added that the incident has further strengthened the public fear that Central security forces deployed in the state cannot prevent occurrences of armed Kuki militant aggression against Meitei villagers in the valley foothills. General public is all the more aggrieved that the Indian forces remain silent spectators to the scepter of wanton killings. Therefore, the people rightly demand that the present Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Kuki militant outfits be abrogated. The mere presence of the Central security forces has emboldened the Kuki militants and miscreants to continue to undertake attacks.
