The shopkeeper identified as Laishram Sunil @ Khoimu, who was reported missing since the day before yesterday was found to have been abducted by unknown person and he was left in semi –conscious state by the abductors after looting his money, gold chain and watch at Achanbigei Awang Leikai in Imphal West district today afternoon. A Joint Action Committee which was formed in connection with the missing of the shopkeeper had already started blocking the road at Singjamei area around noon but it was called off soon after the missing person was found at around 1 pm today.
According to the statement given by Laishram Sunil Singh, he was abducted by three persons who came to buy chair from his shop. He said on that day that is on Monday afternoon two persons came to his shop asking hundred pieces of chair. They even gave him advance money of rupees 2000. As he did not have all the stock he went along with them to collect it from a godown at Paona bazaar. The two persons came in a Maruti van along with a driver and the four of them went together. At Shamumakhong area in Khwairamband Keithel, the two persons applied him chloroform like substances and thereby he lost his consciousness. He carried around rupees 2.5 lakh for payment to the godown owner. Sunil said that he regained consciousness only today morning at around 1 am. He said he was found at a makeshift hut at a hill of Achanbigei area. From there, he struggle hard to reach Achanbigei Awang Leikai. There he met some farmers and they inform the members of the JAC through phone. The JAC member then went to the place along with a police team and brought him back. He was immediately rushed to RIMS hospital as his health was a little deteriorated after excess application of Chloroform.
Laishram Sunil hails from Nambol Pukhrambam Leikai and is presently staying with his family at Singjamei Chontham Leikai by running a shop. Soon after the news of his release State BJP president Thounaojam Chaoba went at Singjamei and met the family members.
