Jiribam, Aug 24:

The All Assam Manipuri Youths’ Association (AAMYA), Assam opposed the  Manipur Hill Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) Bill 2021 and said the bill tried to bifurcate the State into two administrative divisions which will create problems among the masses.
In a press conference held at Binnakandi South Barak hall, Assam the Chief Advisor of AAMYA Kundal Kshetrimayum said we don’t have any enmity with brethren of hills, but the attempt made by the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) for tabling the ADC bill in the ongoing Assembly session is condemnable which tries to break Manipur into Hill and valley and instigating the people of both hills and valley against one another.
Opposing the bill, he also said Manipur is the motherland of all Manipuri’s of the world attached with emotion. “We the Manipuris, with the population of about six lakhs living across Barak valley and Brahmaputra valley of Assam, would not, should not and must not sit idle and remain a mute spectator if ATSUM or any other organisation with vested interest tries make political vendetta to disintegrate the State of Manipur”, he added.
Thereafter, Kundal said the Socio-Economic political profiling of Manipuri villages in Assam is going on in full swing in preparation for Manipuri Autonomous Council in Assam. The ongoing survey has covered almost 80% of the Manipuri villages in Assam and is expected to cover 100% during the first week of September. Once the profiling work is completed, AAMYA would process to talk with the Chief Minister of Assam in order to create a suitable and conducive situation for introducing the Manipuri Autonomous Council Bill on the floor of the Assam Assembly.
He added a bogus group called Manipuri People Front (MNF) was formed by Yengkhom Upendra and Leisungbam Ingangamba former members of Manipuri National Council (MNC). The duo created the group just to malign the image of the Manipuri National Council which was helping and supporting AAMYA in the present struggle for political Autonomy for Manipuris in Assam.
Kundal further said, “Upendra and Ingangamba allegedly informed the press and media that they dissolved the central body of MNC and then they formed MNF. But this information about the dissolution of MNC is a blatant lie”.  AAMYA requested Upendra and Ingangamba not to confuse the people by spreading lies, deceit and propaganda to derail the present popular movement of political Autonomy for Manipuris in Assam. “If they don’t listen to our request and continue with their propaganda, AAMYA may severely react in near future in the interest of down-trodden, socially, economically and politically deprived Manipuris in Assam” added.
