83rd Anniversary of 1943 Air Raid observed

The 83rd commemoration of the Japanese aerial bombing of April 20, 1943, was observed today at Khurai Chingangbam Mandop, with a function held at the Multipurpose Hall, Khurai Thangjam Leikai in Imphal East.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Minister Kh. Loken Singh, and MLA Th. Arunkumar Singh attended the programme and paid floral tributes to those who lost their lives in the air raid, one of the deadliest civilian incidents in Manipur during World War II. The bombing, the first of its kind experienced in the state, is remembered annually as a significant chapter in Manipur’s history.
Later, the Chief Minister, along with MLA Th. Arunkumar Singh, laid the foundation stone for a Women’s Market Shed at New Checkon. The project aims to provide improved infrastructure for women vendors, offering a safer and more organised space to support their livelihoods.
