The 77th International Human Rights Day was jointly observed by the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO), Poirei Leimarol Mera Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF), and the Committee on Human Rights (COHR) at SMART Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou in Kakching district.
The observance held under the theme “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials” was attended by KADUCO President H. Keshwarjit, AMUCO Vice President Ksh. Rajen, AMAWOVA Vice President S. Romita, MSF Vice President Y. James, PLMPAM Vice President A. Ibetombi, SMART Universal Academy Secretary K. Kiran, and Principal K. Dhananjoy as dignitaries.
Dr. Dhanabir Laishram and Advocate Meihoubam Rakesh attended as resource persons and delivered their lectures.
Kanglei Yelhou Cheingak also observed International Human Rights Day today at its Head Office in the DM University Campus, Shanskrit Toll. The event highlighted the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights in daily life, including dignity, safety, equality, and access to essential services.
The programme witnessed the participation of leaders and human rights advocates. Ahongsangbam Premkumar Singh, Chairman of the RAC, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, attended as the Chief Guest, while Nongthombam Sanahal Singh, President of Kanglei Yelhou Cheingak, attended as President. Civil rights activist and advisor to Kanglei Yelhou Cheinga, Ningthoukhongjam Thanil, and Oinam Inaocha Devi, President of Apunba Manipur Ima, were present as Guests of Honour.
The programme concluded with an interactive session involving community members, reaffirming a collective commitment to uphold human dignity, equality, and justice in everyday life.
