7 students injured, Co-convenor of JCILPS Students wing arrested

At least 7 students were injured today in police action when a large number of students and JCILPS Students’ Wing activists storm at New Secretariat office to submit their textbooks to Education Minister, M Okendro.
In its effort to control the students, police resorted to lathi charge and the students protestors too confronted with the police.
During the action, 7 students were injured, among which condition of 3 are reported serious. General Secretary of Ibotonsana Girls Higher Secondary School, L Bidyalaxmi; Surjit of Ananda Singh Academy and a student of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School identified as Thokchom Monica, got severe injury. Other students who got minor injury were given first aid at JNIMS.
Surjit got severe injury at head while Bidyalaxmi and Monica sustained injury at abdomen and legs respectively.
The two girl students were admitted at JNIMS and the other injured was admitted at RIMS.
Meanwhile, City Police has arrested Co-convenor of JCILPS Students Wing, Sarangthem William Milton from Alugalli of Thangal bazaar while he was trying to shut down shops own by non-locals.
JCILPS Students Wing condemned the attack on student protestors. It also demanded to immediately release the arrested Co-convenor without any conditions.
In protest against the attack on student protestors and arrest of JCILPS Students Wing leader, locals of Uripok have blocked the Uripok Kangchup road today afternoon.
