Imphal, dec. 09: The state government has, by an order of the Governor of Manipur on 8 December 2016, created 7 new districts by bifurcating 7 existing districts. According to a notification issued by K Radhakumar Singh, Commissioner (Revenue), the existing 7 districts and the details of the bifurcation is as follows: IMPHAL EAST DISTRICT- (1) Imphal East District (Porompat, Keirao Bitra and Sawombung Sub-divisions). (2) Jiribam District (Jiribam & Borobekra Sub-divisions). SENAPATI DISTRICT- (1) Senapati District (Tadubi, Paomata, Purul, Willong,Chilivai Phaibung, Tuijang Waichong, Song-Song & Lairouching Sub-divisions). (2) Kangpokpi District ( Kangpokpi, Champhai, Saitu Gamphazol, Kangchup Geljang, Saikul, Lungtin, Island & Bungte Chiru Sub-divisions). THOUBAL DISTRICT- (1) Thoubal District (Thoubal &Lilong Sub-divisions). (2) Kakching District (Kakching & Waikhong Sub-divisions). CHANDEL DISTRICT- (1) Chandel District (Chandel, Chakpikarong & Khengjoy Sub-divisions). (2) Tengnoupal District ( Machi, Moreh & Tengnoupal Sub-divisions). UKHRUL DISTRICT- (1) Ukhrul District (Ukhrul, Lungchong-Maiphai, Chingai & Jessami Sub-divisions). (2) Kamjong District (Kamjong, Sahamphung, Kasom Khullen & Phungyar Sub-divisions). CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT- (1) Churachandpur District ( Churachandpur, Sangaikot, Tuibuong, Mualnuam, Singngat, Henglep, Kangvai, Samulamlan & Saikot Sub-divisions). (2) Pherzawl District (Pherzawl, Thanlon, Parbung- Tipaimukh & Vangai Range Sub-divisions). TAMENGLONG DISTRICT- (1) Tamenglong District (Tamenglong, Tamei & Tousem Sub-divisions). (2) Noney District ( Nungba, Khoupum, Longmei (Noney) & Haochong Sub-divisions). Further, two offices of the Additional Deputy Commissioner with Headquarters at Mao in Senapati District and Jessami at Ukhrul District has been created. It is also stated that the district boundaries will be as per the existing boundaries of the concerned Sub-divisions and in the event of any disputes relating to the district boundaries, the matter will be decided by a District Boundary Commission headed by a retired Judge of High Court with Administrative Secretaries of Home, Revenue and Tribal Affairs & Hills of the state government as members.

A surgical strike of O Ibobi Singh has effectively surprised all people of Manipur and opposition parties. I don’t think UNC can do more stronger bandh and economic blockade than the existing non-stop economic blockade. Corrupt O Ibobi Singh will continue to shine being a hero. UNC is responsible for return of corrupt party.
One must look beyond immediate political objectives – viability and sustainability of the new system must be taken into account while taking such a monumental decision. Ibobi may be gone in next election but the lasting adverse implications of his misadventure is going to stay for generations …….
