600 rice bags seized from smuggling into Myanmar

A team of security personnel of 5 Assam Rifles in Moreh foiled the smuggling of 600 bags of rice from Manipur that were being transported on four trucks to Myanmar yesterday.
According to the report, suspicious activities were observed in a suspected DI vehicle, and a team of 5th AR interrogated the suspects. On further interrogation, the team of 5th AR came to know about the illegal transfer of rice bags as the drivers on the scene were unable to respond appropriately. The illegal transfer of government rice into Myanmar territory through unauthorised routes and goods were detained and turned over to customs for further legal action and interrogation.
The detained individuals have been identified as Lourembam Sarat Meetei, 25, son of Lourembam Ingocha Meetei, Kharason Maning Leikai, Md Liyakat, 32, son of Taher Ali, Heibong Makhong Makha Leikai, Leishungbam Kanhai, 49, son of Leishungbam Nija Singh, Andro Khunou Leikai, and Laishram Lokeswor Singh, 45, son of Laishram Kulbidhu Singh, Kha Sanjenbam Makha Leikai.
Approximately 600 rice bags (50 kg each) were discovered in trucks with the licence plates MN 04A 4063, MN 04C 0220, MN 02G 3108, and MN 03W 0164, according to the report.
