5 rocket shells, 1 HE grenade found at Kanglapat

Labourers currently engaging in the renovation work of the Kanglapat today found 5 rocket shells and a High Explosive grenade from the bed of the Kanglapat at the western side of the main entry to the secret Kangla at around 8 am today. The five rocket shells as well as the high explosive grenade were rusted. All the explosives were later safely detonated at Lamphelpat by a team of police bomb squad.  Earlier too before the Sangai festival when the renovation work of the Kanglapat at the southern side was being underway many high explosive hand grenade were recovered from the bed of the Kanglapat.
Police suspect the bomb could have been dropped at the Kanglapat when the insurgency movement reached its peak in the state and when the Assam Rifles were active in conducting counter insurgency movement in and around Imphal.
