The Wabagai Higher Secondary School 1976 Alumni observed World Teachers’ Day 2025 by organising the 4th Sintakpasingi Ningshing Thouram at the school’s Recreation Hall.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were paid to departed teachers, alumni, and at the Lamjing Meira Paibasingi Ningshingpung located within the school campus, followed by a two-minute silence as a mark of respect.
The programme was attended by Elangbam Surchand, Retired Principal of Kakching Higher Secondary School; Professor Wahengbam Chandbabu, Vice-Chancellor of DMU and MTU; and Professor Moirangthem Mani, former Dean of Humanities, Manipur University, as dignitaries.
Delivering the keynote address, M. Joy highlighted that education refines and civilises a person, making not only an individual but also the community, society, and the world a better place. He described teachers as the light that guides others, stating that without dedicated teachers, quality education would not be possible.
In his address, Professor Wahengbam Chandbabu remarked that the Shintakpasingi Ningshing Thouram organised by the 1976 Alumni, with its focus on student-teacher relationships, would leave a lasting impact on society. He further noted that while Teachers’ Day is celebrated in various ways across institutions, only a few observances truly reflect its essence.
As part of the event, gifts were also presented to former teachers of Wabagai Higher Secondary School from the 1976 batch.
