Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) to celebrate its 4th KIMACS Thang-Ta festival starting from April 23 at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
Addressing a press meet at the office of KIMACS located inside the campus of Dance College near MFDC, Imphal, Vice President of KIMACS, N. Pakpa Mangang said that the three days long festival will be launched on 23 April with a road-show comprising of various people associated with Thang-Ta martial art. The road-show will be flagged off by the present King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba from the Palace Compound and then pay floral tribute to the departed souls of Khongjom war at Lamyanba Shanglen where the main function will also take place. A competition of Thang-Ta martial art will also take place on the inaugural day, added Pakpa.
The second day of the festival will be comprised of an academic discussion program with the topic of ‘importance of Thang-Ta to the students’ wherein various academicians, associates from various schools, representatives from Manipur University, media representatives, etc will participate in it. Pakpa appealed to all the citizens of Manipur to participate in the discussion.
On the closing day of the festival, Pakpa added that KIMACS, for the first time will distribute four different awards to various people. The awards are Huyel Lanjing Shafaba, Paona Ningshing Shintak, Khongjom Lal Ningshing Shintak and Chingu Maichou Apoinana Ningshing.
