4-Day Anal-Meitei Children’s cultural exchange learning program

A 4-Day Anal-Meitei Children’s Residential Cultural Exchange Learning Program concluded today at Cheengkhu village with Anal and Meitei children performing folk songs and dance of the two communities together ending with Thabal Chongba. The concluding function was attended by 70 persons from the surrounding village and jointly sponsored by La Ganesan, Governor of Manipur and Th. Satyabrata, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly. Speaking as the special guest of the occasion, Rungwar Tongsin appreciated the initiative of MDFS in reconnecting the younger generation through performing cultures and art. He also thanked Chhaya Devi, Gurumayum, Director, MDFS for bringing such a cultural exchange learning program among the younger generation who are moving away from their cultural tradition and practices.
The 4-Day program was attended by 22 Children including 11 boys and girls representing both Anal and Meitei communities. Rungwar Tongsin, Chief of Cheengkhu village & President of Naga Chief’s Association, was the Special guest of the occasion, Thohring, Chief of T. Mino village as the guest of honour and presided by Jamhring Wanglum, General Secretary, Anal Naga Tribal Association (ANTA). The function was moderated by Ts. Ngamvar, Principal, Koinonio Training School, Chandel. The Program was part of series of programs being organized by Manipuri Dance Foundation School (MDFS) of Chandrika Trust, Imphal. Earlier, MDFS organized 5-Day Children’s Residential Cultural Exchange Learning program between Rongmei and Meitei children at Tamenglong and Imphal sponsored by Ministry of Culture. The purpose of the program is to reconnect the younger generations between hills and valley through mutual appreciations of diverse cultures; folk tales, songs and dances.
