Motive behind the blast could not speculated as the blast site is also a route that leads to the Manipur state Legislative Assembly Secretariat at Chingmeirong and some MLAs and Ministers use to pass the route to attend the 9th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which is being underway since Dec. 18 security. According to a statement of a non local who was present at the blast site, two persons – a male and female of middle age came at the tea hotel at around 9.30 am today and they left a box which probably contains the IED. The blast occurred soon after the two left in a bus that leads to Motbung.
