A three-day international conference on “Art Education and Child Rights” was successfully held today, at the RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education, Asha Jina Complex, Imphal East, Manipur. The hybrid-mode conference was organized by Surindra Rajabhat University, Thailand, Manipur University of Culture, and RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education.
The event was inaugurated with the esteemed presence of Dr. Tanom Intarakumnerd, Chairman of the Surindra Rajabhat University Council and Suan Dusit University Council, Thailand, who served as the Chief Patron. Professor Gunindro Paonam, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture, and Smt. Thongram Asha Devi, Vice Chairperson of RK Sanatombi Devi Educational Institutions, were the patrons of the conference.
The conference aimed to highlight the critical role of art education in child development, aligning with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These policies emphasize the importance of integrating arts into the educational curriculum to foster self-expression, confidence, and holistic development in children.
The conference featured addresses from academics and experts in the field. Participants included faculty members, teachers, scholars, and students, both offline and online. The conference saw active participation and presentations on various sub-themes related to art education and child rights. E-certificates were issued to online participants and presenters.
Dr. Rajkumari Sujata Devi, Associate Professor at RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education, served as the Convenor of the event. The Co-Convenors included Dr. Jamnong Junkhiew, Dr. Manju Elangbam, Dr. Nganbi Chanu, and Dr. Thiyam Saterjit Singh, all Assistant Professors from their respective institutions.
