Recruitment candidates of the 2019 batch for the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) and Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) have strongly condemned the state government’s handling of their long-pending recruitment and rejected the recent decision to cancel the examination process.
Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club, Yumkhaibam Manosh, President of the All Manipur MSPDCL and MSPCL Results Awaiting Candidates 2019, recalled that the recruitment notification was issued in 2019, with the examination process commencing on January 8, 2020. A total of 907 posts were advertised, attracting nearly 37,000 candidates.
Despite the passage of more than five years, the government has failed to declare the results. Manosh said that repeated appeals to successive governments have been ignored, and even during President’s Rule, the candidates were denied an appointment with the Governor to present their grievances.
The group rejected outright the Governor-in-Council’s order of September 2, which seeks to cancel the recruitment examination, calling it a betrayal of the thousands of unemployed youths who had invested time, money, and effort. The candidates argued that cancellation, instead of result declaration, amounts to punishing them for no fault of their own.
They further accused the government of playing with the future of educated youths by dragging the process for half a decade without transparency or accountability. “This delay exposes the insensitivity of the state towards its unemployed population,” the group stated.
The candidates demanded the immediate revocation of the cancellation order and the declaration of the long-delayed results. They warned that if the government continues to remain indifferent, they will intensify their agitation.
