2 missing Kuki men found and reunited with families

In a coordinated effort between Manipur Police and central security forces, two Kuki men who had gone missing were safely located on Saturday and handed over to their families on Sunday.
According to police reports, the two individuals — Lalminlun (45) of H. Lhangjol village and Sesem (45) of Sangran village, both from Kangpokpi district — were found loitering at Yaingangpokpi Bazar in Imphal East district. They had reportedly been missing earlier in the day, prompting a swift night-time search operation by the police and security forces.
The two were spotted travelling in an auto-rickshaw and were subsequently escorted to safety before being reunited with their families.
The recovery came amid heightened tension following a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), a Kuki-Zo civil body, demanding action over the alleged abduction and torture of a Kuki civilian.
CoTU alleged that Kamginlal Chongloi, an employee at the Leimakhong Army Headquarters, was intercepted near Makhan Liangmei Naga village while returning from Sapormeina and was later assaulted by armed militants. The committee urged authorities to take swift action against those responsible.
