In two separate tragic incidents reported this morning, a minor and an employee of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found dead by hanging at Moirang in Bishnupur district and at the RIMS complex in Imphal West district, respectively.
The first case was reported from Moirang Khoiru Makha Leikai, where a 15-year-old boy studying in Class VIII was found hanging at his residence. According to police sources, the minor had been staying alone at the house for the past four days. His father is currently working as an auto-rickshaw driver in Imphal, while his mother works as a farmer in Nambol. The body has been recovered by Moirang Police and deposited at the RIMS morgue for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
In the second incident, a RIMS employee was found hanging inside his official quarter located within the RIMS complex. The deceased has been identified as Sagolsem Sanatomba, 53, a resident of Sagolband Moirang Leirak. He worked as an attendant at the Psychiatry Department of RIMS and was staying at Type-2 Quarter B-15. His body was discovered at the quarter early this morning.
Lamphel Police, along with a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, conducted an investigation at the scene before shifting the body to the RIMS morgue for post-mortem. A case has also been registered at Lamphel Police Station in connection with the incident.
Authorities have yet to establish the causes behind the deaths, and investigations in both cases are ongoing.
