2 died of suspected H1N1 case; ‘State will discuss utilization of Helicopter’

Imphal, July 29: The State health department is doing all it can as soon as it received report of an unknown disease in certain areas of Churachandpur district. Replying to a calling attention motion moved by MLA K Ranjit during the ongoing State Assembly Session today, Health Minister L Jayantakumar said that as the case of Henglep where an unknown disease is spreading the Health Department consider it as extraordinary cases and already two doctors had been assigned on interim basis.
Moreover, Medical team had already been sent to the affected villages but as the road conditions are too bad and as the vehicles the medics who were rushing could not reached the villages due to landslide they are doing all it can to fight the disease, Jayantakumar added.
“The road condition is so bad that our medical team could not reached the villages and we cannot repaired it immediately so the state government will discuss on whether helicopter can be utilized for transportation of the medical team and the medicines if necessary”, The Health Minister said.
Jayantakumar further added that so far 2 cases of suspected H1 N1 have been died when their blood samples are being sent for confirmation. He said that fighting epidemic like diseases needs cooperation from all sections of people including the representatives of the houses. He said if any suspected illness is found then people from the respective area need to inform it to the health department.
He further added that as many as 31 children and 10 adult patients are undergoing treatment at Churachandpur district Hospital till today.
