16th death anniversary of Thangjam Manorama observed

Imphal, July 11: People of all the walks of life today paid tributes to late Thangjam Manorama on the 16th commemoration day which was organised by Thangjam Manorama Memorial Charitable Trust today near her residence at Bamon Kampu, Imphal. Various civil organisations’ leader and student bodies also came to pay tributes to the departed soul who was brutally raped and murdered by troopers of 17 Assam Riffles.Attending the commemoration day as President, Thounaojam Iboyaima, President, Irabot Foundation Manipur said that the Indian government doesn’t listen to the issues of Manipur even though many have been killed and suffered due to AFSPA. The reason for the Indian government to not address the issues of Manipur, be it AFSPA or ILP, is because Manipur is not the true land of India and they do not treat the people of the state as their own hence they are killing many of us brutally, said Iboyaima.Secretary, Thangjam Manorama Memorial Charitable Trust, K. Muhindro said that even though an enquiry commission has been formed by a retired Judge, the report cannot be flashed to the public. He further said the enquiry report must be flashed to the public and give proper punishment to the armies involved in the case.
