13th Sentinel Cup Equestrian Championship was declared closed by the Chief Guest Major General VS Sreenivas, VSM **, IG, Assam Rifles (South) on last day of the ongoing 13th edition of State Level Equestrian Championship & 7th Junior Equestrian Championship organised by Manipur Equestrian Association and sponsored by Assam Rifles at Mapal Kangjeibng.
The General officer was accorded a warm welcome in a traditional manner. Brigadier V T Mathew, Commander, 9 Sector Assam Rifles, Brigadier JS Bainsla along with Dr S Joykumar Singh, President Manipur Equestrian Association and Dr KSH Chourajit Singh, President Manipuri Pony Society were also present on the occasion to grace the event.
Speaking on the occasion Major General VS Sreenivas, VSM** said that the “Sentinel Cup State Equestrian Championship and IG AR (South) Junior Equestrian Championship” is an annual tribute and platform for the brilliant sporting talent of Manipur.
It is an endeavour of Assam Rifles to engage and provide motivation for the Equestrian enthusiasts of Manipur on this grand stage. This event also underlines Assam Rifles thrust to save the endangered Manipuri Pony. The whole ceremony was full of pomp and splendour but the cynosure of the ceremony were the Senior Tent Pegging, Show Jumping Cultural and exhibition match of Sagol Kangjei (Traditional Manipuri Polo) which received accolades from the gathering on their performances.
