123 persons with no travel history tested positive with COVID -19 today; 5 security personnel of CLP leader O Ibobi tested positive with COVID-19

Imphal, Sept 2:

A total of 123 (hundred twenty three persons) and 2 other personnel of the Central Armed police have been tested positive with COVID-19 during the last 24 hour. Among the 123 local populace 77 are male while 19 are female. With the new cases the total positive case of COVID-19 has reached 6507 in the state . Among these 1602 are from the Central Security personnel. The number of persons recovered so far is 4607 and thus the active COVID-19 case in the state is 1871.

As per report from the COVID Control Room 157 persons have recovered in the last 24 hour and have been discharged from the COVID Care Center . The recovery rate is 70.80%. .

Those tested positive with COVID -19 are 46 from Imphal West, 8 from Imphal East, 14 from Thoubal district, 17 from Bishnupur district , 1 from Chandel district, 28 from Churachandpur district and 5 from Kakching district. They have been tested positive at RIMS and JNIMS VRDL plus other district and private testing center.   

Five security personnel of the Congress Legislature Wing leader Okram Ibobi Singh have been tested with COVID-19 today. Following the report health department authority conducted contact tracing of the infected security personnel and are all set to conduct COVID-19 test. The test result of the five security personnel has been found positive two days after the felicitation function of Th. Arun who is contesting the by-election of Wangkhei Assembly constituency as a rival candidate of Okram Henry.

Source said that CLP leader Okram Ibobi and other close associate have started self quarantine and sample for many suspected person who have contact with the security personnel have also been collected for testing.

A team from the state health department have also sanitized the Congress Bhavan today.
