10 houses swept away by flood water at Lilong

Imphal, June 3: Heavy monsoon rain continued to unleash havoc in various places across Manipur as over 10 houses at Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai have been swept away following Imphal river bank breached at Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai early on Sunday.
There, the Imphal river bank collapsed about 100 ft around 4 am, according to officials.  
Thousands have been rendered homeless due to the river bursting its bank in the area. Residents expressed dismay over alleged failure of the state government to provide immediate relief. They said they were battling the flood water.
Officials said over 10 houses nearby the Imphal river bank in Lilong area have been swept away.  About 20 km of stretch starting from Lilong Haoreibi under Lilong Assembly Constituency have been submerged under flood water.
