10 hospitalized after consuming Curd in Thoubal

Imphal, March 19:

Ten people from five families in Narengbam Leirak, Wangjing SK Leikai, Thoubal district, were hospitalized after consuming curd bought from a local shop on March 16 and 17. The affected individuals suffered from vomiting and diarrhea and were rushed to Thoubal District Hospital.
A source said that the curd was sourced from Tekcham and sold in the local shop. The victims realized the common cause of their illness upon meeting at the hospital. Though discharged after medical assurance, many continued experiencing extreme fatigue and required IV injections.
The affected individuals include N Bala (44), N Sanatombi (42), N Memma (61), N Jessica (14), N Lamjingba (10), N Lanchenba (9), N Sarju (27), Th Rishan (14), N Rasheshwori (41), and H Gangarani (23).
The families have urged authorities to investigate potential adulteration and ensure such incidents do not recur.
