Chandel district observed World No Tobacco Day 2019

District Health Society, Chandel & National Tobacco Control Programme, Chandel observed ‘’WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY ‘’ at DRDA Hall DC complex Chandel. This year, this day is being observed under the theme “Tobacco and Lungs Health”.
Yesterday’s function was attended by SDO, Chandel Loktongbam Leander,MCS,
CMO,Chandel, Dr.Serthani Serbum, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Chandel. Shri Bimolchandra Singh, MPS and Chairman Japhau Bazaar, HL. Lordson Anal as chief guest, president and guests of honour  respectively.
Speaking as the Chief Guest SDO, Chandel Loktongbam Leander, talked about tobacco control laws i.e. COTPA 2003, he also reiterated the about the diseases cause by tobacco.Interacting with the students and the teachers present in the function he asked them to spread the awareness about the ill effects of using tobacco products. He also said     that they should the ambassadors of the no tobacco movement.        
In his key note address DNO, NTCP,Chandel Dr.Joyson M Monsang said that tobacco is the leading cause of preventable deaths and diseases in the  world. He further said that 35% all over India, and 55% particularly in Manipur uses tobacco according to GATS2016-17(Global Adult Tobacco Survey) he further said that this time more emphasis are being given to the young generations specially students to create more awareness.
Dy. Superintendent of Police,  Chandel. Bimolchandra Singh spoke about the roles of police and the law enforcement agencies under the COTPA.
Chairman Japhau Bazaar, Shri HL. Lordson Anal said that JBA will extend all possible help in creating awareness and act as an ambassador for the cause. Yesterday’s function was attended by students and teachers of various schools and other stake holders of Chandel district.
As part of today’s program an awareness rally was also taken out from DC complex to Japhou Bazaar.

Under -7 chess players of Manipur score magnificent points in Natl. Championship

Five members team, three boys & two girls of Manipur Chess Association Ad-Hoc-Committee is representing in the 33rd National Under-7 open & girls’ chess championship being organised by Bengal Chess Association on behalf of All India Chess Federation and hosted by New Town School, Kolkata from 1st to 6th June, 2019. Top 20 rankers from each of boys and girls category will be awarded with cash prizes and certificates.
For Manipur, at the end of seventh rounds, Lemba Sougaijam has scored 2.5 points, Ngairangbam Lanchenba with 2 points, Thokchom Preeti with 2.5 points, Nongthombam Anjelena with 2.5 points, and Reagan Thoudam with one point.
On Day 4, with the completion of 7th round today, Lemba Sougaijam loses from Aradhya Adhikari of Sikkim. Lanchenba Ngairangbam loses from Avyay Bhatia of  Punjab, Reagan Thoudam loses from Yohann Jain of Assam, Thokchom Preeti gets tie with Anushka Thappa of West Bengal, Nongthombam Anjelena also gets tie with Dishita Dey of West Bengal.
Lemba vs Diptarka Das of WB, Lanchenba vs Anjan Tripathi of Uttarakhand, Reagan vs Samriddha Sheet of WB, Preeti vs Amaira Arora of Delhi, Anjelena vs Arshia of Punjab are on board now to start game at 3 pm.

Free Mental health camp held

National health Mission , Manipur in association with Peace and Development Welfare Club Langathel today organised a Free Mental Health camp at Langathel Kangjeibung.

During the health camp various mental health related problem  like Anxiety , depression, Schizophrenia, OCD( Obsessive Compulsive disorder), Mood Disorder, Dementia, Mental retardation , Alcohol Dependency Syndrome (ADS), ODS etc were treated to around 130 patients.

Senior Psychiatrist , Dr. A. Ranita Devi, State Nodal Officer Dr. A Ranita Devi, District Nodal officer Chandel, Dr. Kh. Robindro Singh along with clinical psychologists    , Psychiatrics Social Workers and Psychiatrics nurses were present to treat and provide counselling to the patient.

Free drugs were also distributed to the patients.
