It does not matter whether the government shows concern to the demand for introduction of the Inner Line Permit System, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System supported by the students’ body and other civil society organisation continue the protest in an even more intensified manner. On the day when the government called for the all political parties meeting to discuss about the matter, over 20 students who were staging rally for demand, of the system were injured in police action. Government announcement to find another legislation which will be of no difference with the Inner Line Permit System fails to convince the agitators. Why is it so?It is the credibility and the commitment of the government at which people will response too. For long people have almost lost faith in the government and of course to the commitment of political parties. And therefore, the agitation cannot be ruled out.While the regalia continue, parents have started worrying about their wards as the agitation has greatly affected the academic atmosphere. There is no reason on why a commoner should not be surprised on the intensified agitation for demand of the ILP when the government at which the demand were put on had already listen and were trying to find a solution to the demand.But why should the government be believed? There are already contradictory claims between the leaders of the agitators and the government. When the government said that the Inner Line Permit System cannot be implemented by the state government as it is a union list, the agitators said that the implementation of the ILP is under the purview of the state government.Students whose action has been prompted by the advice of the leaders of the agitators had reason to believe in them. Moreover the state government had never conveyed the agenda circling around the issue of Inner Line Permit System. How long they can cheat the general public by remaining silence over the matter. Or is it that the government is indirectly encouraging the agitation for reason best known.It is being said so because every lawyer knows that implementation of ILP system under the Eastern Bengal Regulation to the state of Manipur is altra virus to the constitution of India. There are also certain legal provisions which supported the fact that ILP under the Eastern Bengal Frontiers Regulation can never be implemented in the state.Then why the government is not announcing it through the various form of media channel available in the state?
