It is not an underestimation of our local journalist. Everyone knows how sensitive are our journalist. Having said so, we cannot ignore the importance of journalists from outside the states and abroad, if the government felt that exposure of our beautiful landscape and tradition and culture to the world community.
The candid views of Journalists and Observers from outside the state and abroad is a tool to make people aware of rich traditions and beautiful landscape to the world community.
“If one praises about himself or herself, it reaches every nook and corner”, so said the saying. But it remains as universal truth that when the so called person talks about himself, herself or about his family, community etc. he or she will pick up only the bright side. This is an undeniable truth for the neo-contemporary human beings.
We the observers and the journalists of the native know that Manipur is changing. This perhaps can be credited to the advancement of technology and those geniuses who had invented smart phone, Internet and social media like twitter, Facebook etc.
Leaving aside, the common people, it is signed which shows that Manipur is marching ahead under the vibrant leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and his colleague. His wisdom on the need for utilization of modern technology to get in touch with the people of the state is one praiseworthy experiment. Already he had organized peoples’ day – both for people from the far flung hilly area as well as those in the valley region.  The endeavor is being followed by other bureaucrat officers of the state.
This one big step taken up by chief minister N. Biren Singh is appreciated by each and every people of the state irrespective of differences in political party or ideologies.
Saying so, people still are skeptical on various other issues like the promises for development of infrastructures which is yet to begin implementation even after 6 months in the government due to certain reasons like frequent torrential rains causing floods for five times in 6 months in the state.
But one thing which is true is that, the N. Biren Singh led government has succeeded in restoring communal harmony of this lost paradise. But still then, years of conflict between the state actors and the non state actors as well as between various conflict often reported  in newspapers has still failed to convince the outside community that Manipur is a peaceful land now. Because of fear, foreign tourists seem to be still skeptical of the reality that Manipur is now. The present govt. now need a mechanism to show the world that Manipur is one among the best destination for tourists.
The matter is being put up because we in the Imphal Times want to draw the attention of our Chief Minister N. Biren Singh as well as those in Department of Tourism about the necessities of inviting Journalists from outside the state and abroad, particularly those influential journalists from the South East  Asian Countries like – Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Korea, Japan and China weeks before the commencement of the State Tourism Festival which is scheduled to hold in the month of November. The mode of inviting the foreign journalists would be best by organising seminar plus tour programme so that they learnt and take the firsthand account of the glimpse of the beautiful landscape of this land.  We also understood that Manipur is historically important for both British and Japanese people as this place is an important battlefield of World War II.
We know that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led government has brought many changes in 6 months. Promises have been made but six months is a short span for development of infrastructures. Besides the torrential rains which cause flood and landslide for five times in this short span is one reason for the delay in taking up developmental works. But we had seen how Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had utilized all his skills in restoring the peace and harmony in the region. The thin line that divided different communities of the state has been almost abolished.
By inviting foreign journalists, weeks ahead of the Sangai Tourism Festival, the fear psychosis about the existence of conflict and uncertainly among the community will be eradicated from the mindset of the people from South East Asian countries, as the journalists will surely narrates truth of the present state.
Who knows, unlike before foreign tourists might flooded the Sangai Tourism Festival to find out what the journalists had told them.
