Improving education sector is my top priority – Th. Lokeshwar

Speaker of Manipur legislative Assembly, Th. Lokeshwar warns serious action against govt. teachers who are found abstaining from their duty.
Speaking during the inauguration function of newly constructed school building at Cosmopolitan high school, Chingkhu Imphal east under SSA on Sunday, Lokeshwar said that future of the nation depend on the teachers. He said education sector is his top priority area and he will do everything to improve the education system in the state particularly in Khundrakpam assembly constituency.
“I will spend 90% of my LADF for improvement of education sector”, Lokeshwar said.
He further added that he will starting surprise inspection visit at schools in Khundrakpam Assembly constituency along with the Director education and during the visit if any teachers are found abstaining from their duty they will be awarded with befitting punishment.
While appealing the people to jointly work for improvement in education sector, Lokeshwar said that both the parents and the teacher have equal responsibility in improving the education sector.
“Government alone cannot improve the education sector without the support of parents and teachers”, Lokeshwar.
He further said that government is taking up various schemes like SSA, RMSA to improve and impart education to all the children in the country given the fact that development of the country lies with education. However, people of the state are not ready to take the benefit of the schemes. Parents are sending their children to private schools paying huge fees. When the people, government and teachers work co-operatively, government schools in the state will be developed, he added.
O. Nabakishor  Singh IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Manipur and N. Praveen Singh Director Education (S) also attended the function.
