‘The belief that service towards the society is service towards God inspired me to take up these social works which will benefit everyone and will make life that little better’- response of retired teacher Mutum Janmenjoy Singh @ Joy Kumar Singh (76), S/o (L) M Nganba Singh of Jiribam gi Kunjabond when enquired about the social works he is initiating by funding the expenditure personally. Speaking to mediapersons, Motum Janmenjoy singh @ Joy kumar Singh expressed his desire to serve the society and the community in whatever little ways he can, adding the present initiative of funding the roadside clearance work from Lalpani to Chandranathpur along the busy Jiri-Tipaimukh road by employing 10 persons was not to garner public appreciation or for monetary gain, but is borne out of the feeling of serving the society. He further stated that he is not wealthy or harbor any political ambition as some people wrongly made out to be. Janmenjoy has also personally funded various repairing and construction works in the area including road construction from Dibong Karong to Nungchappi khun twice, repairing of potholes in the area etc. it may e mentioned that the Jiri-Tipaimuk road has been in pathetic and dangerous condition for a long time with the state government continuing to neglect it, forcing various clubs, social organizations and individuals to bear the expenses for the repair works till today.
