The CPI Bishnupur Local Council organised a programme at Open Bhawan Khwairakpan, Bishnupur, today to mark the 130th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot as part of a month-long observance.
CPI Manipur Loumi Lup Working President Comrade S. Nilakamal Singh, CPI Bishnupur Local Secretary Comrade Yaiskul RK, former Secretary Comrade Th. Yaiskul Meitei, CPI Bishnupur District Secretary Comrade Ch. Sharat Singh and senior advocate Comrade N. Ramananda Singh, Executive Member of the CPI Nachou Branch, attended the programme as presidium members.
The participants paid floral tributes to Hijam Irabot and remembered the comrades associated with his period. Speakers recalled Irabot’s contributions to the welfare of the people and his efforts to improve the lives of the masses.
During the programme, Comrade Sorokhaibam Nilakamol was honoured for his contribution towards efforts to establish a CPI office in Bishnupur. He was presented a cash award, citation and memento.
CPI Bishnupur Local Council Joint Secretary Comrade O. Chinglemba said the month-long programme was being organised to make people aware of and remember the contributions and activities of Hijam Irabot.
Comrade Sorokhaibam expressed gratitude for the honour and said the recognition should encourage continued efforts towards pursuing the ideals and objectives associated with Hijam Irabot.
