The Hill Areas Committee (HAC) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly held a sitting after a prolonged gap, with Chairman Dinganglung Gangmei describing the meeting as an opportunity for collective deliberation on issues concerning the hill areas.
In a social media post, Gangmei, popularly known as Dipu Gangmei, said the sitting brought HAC members together on a common platform for what he described as a “meaningful and threadbare discussion”, marked by constructive dialogue, mutual understanding and a shared commitment to the interests of the hill areas.
He termed the sitting productive and said it reaffirmed the importance of collective deliberation and cooperation among members.
According to Gangmei, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and MLAs Khashim Vashum (Chingai), Leishiyo Keishing (Kamjong), Kumo Sha (Karong), Haokholet Kipgen (Saitu), Ngasanglur Sanate (Tipaimukh), Chinlunthang (Singhat), Letzamang Haokip (Henglep), Letpao Haokip (Tengnoupal), L.M. Khaute (Churachandpur), Janghemlung Panmei (Tamenglong), Ram Muivah (Ukhrul) and Paolienlal Haokip (Saikot) participated in the meeting, either physically or online.
Gangmei thanked the members for participating in the sitting.
The HAC is the committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly constituted under the special constitutional provisions relating to the hill areas under Article 371C.
