COCOMI Farmers’ Wing postpones August 18 rally

The COCOMI Farmers’ Wing (CFW) has postponed the mass rally scheduled for August 18 over farmers’ grievances arising from the prolonged conflict in Manipur.

In a press release, CFW Convenor Shyam Khuman said farmers have been unable to cultivate their lands for more than three years, while compensation for 2024–25 remains pending despite the funds reportedly being sanctioned by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The CFW alleged that the Agriculture Department and the State Government have failed to properly address the concerns of affected farmers. The rally was planned to demand immediate disbursement of pending compensation, free access to agricultural land, adequate subsidised fertilisers, and protection of farmland and the environment. The CFW said a fresh date for the rally would be announced if further action becomes necessary.
