Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) today staged a sit-in protest at the JNIMS Hospital Mortuary, where the mortal remains of the six Naga men have been kept since June 10.
The two organisations expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of the investigation and the initiatives taken so far by both the Central and the State Governments. They stated that while certain actions have reportedly been initiated by the investigating agencies, the progress has not met the expectations of the bereaved families and the public, and justice must be delivered without further delay.
UAL and UNAL stated that the six Naga men were allegedly abducted in broad daylight before being brutally killed. They further noted that Naga civil society organisations and the villagers of Konsa Khul have publicly alleged the involvement of the Chairman of Leilon Vaiphei and members of KNF-P in the incident. The organisations urged the investigating agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation into all allegations and ensure that every person found responsible is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The organisations appealed to both the Central and the State Governments to intensify their efforts to ensure justice for the victims and their families at the earliest.
