The Imagi Meira has served a five-day deadline to the Manipur government, demanding immediate measures to address issues related to the ongoing ethnic conflict, including legal and security interventions aimed at restoring normalcy across the state.
Addressing a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today, president Th. Sujata said the organisation has urged the government to initiate concrete action on a set of demands, including the enactment of appropriate legislation to facilitate peace restoration, protection for villages affected by the conflict, legal safeguards for village volunteers, and the expeditious delivery of justice, relief, and rehabilitation for those impacted by the conflict.
She cautioned that failure to demonstrate tangible progress on any of the demands within the stipulated five-day period would compel Meira Paibis, in coordination with local clubs across Manipur, to launch a large-scale statewide agitation.
According to Sujata, the proposed movement would be unprecedented in scale. She said the agitation would intensify if the government continues to remain unresponsive to the concerns raised by the organisation.
