The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, launched a three-day onsite training programme on the implementation of the NABH Hospital 6th Edition Standards to strengthen its preparedness for National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) accreditation.
The programme, being held from July 24 to 26 at Sushruta Hall, was inaugurated by RIMS Director Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma in the presence of Medical Superintendent Prof. N. Sanjib Singh and resource persons Dr. Prashant S. Kelkar, Deputy CMO of JNPA Hospital, Navi Mumbai, and Dr. Monika Gupta, Professor of Pathology and Associate Dean (Academic Excellence & Accreditation), Pramukhswami Medical College, Gujarat.
Addressing the inaugural session, Prof. Sharma described the programme as a significant milestone in RIMS’ NABH accreditation journey under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He said NABH accreditation would enhance patient-centred care, quality, accountability and standardised hospital practices, and expressed confidence that RIMS could become one of the first medical institutes in the Northeast to achieve the accreditation.
The first day’s sessions introduced participants to the NABH framework, accreditation process and its benefits, followed by technical training on patient care, medication management, continuity of care, and patient rights under the NABH Hospital 6th Edition Standards.
The training has brought together faculty members, nursing officers, engineers, medical records personnel and other key hospital functionaries. The remaining two days will focus on infection control, patient safety, facility management, human resource management, information systems, documentation and internal assessment as part of RIMS’ ongoing efforts to improve healthcare quality and patient safety.
