Keirao Assembly Constituency MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei has said Manipur can become a strong and prosperous state only if its people preserve and practise the religion and cultural traditions inherited from their ancestors.
He was speaking during a ritual dedicated to Ibudhou Pakhangba organised by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board at Kongba Meirongbi in Imphal East district. The ceremony was held to pray for peace, harmony and prosperity in the state.
Rameshwor, who is also the First Vice-President of the Temple Board, said Manipur’s historical strength was rooted in its indigenous religion, customs and way of life, and urged people to uphold the values passed down by their ancestors. He expressed hope that the ritual would help restore peace and stability in the state.
Temple Board Member Secretary Sandham Gandharaj said Kongba Meirongbi has long been regarded as a sacred site associated with Ibudhou Pakhangba. He said the Board has been conducting similar rituals at sacred sites across Manipur to pray for lasting peace and well-being.
