Former Chairman of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), RK Meghen, popularly known as Sanayaima, has asserted that even a political solution involving territorial boundaries is unlikely to bring lasting peace to Manipur.
Addressing media at his residence in Singjamei Kshetri Leikai today, Meghen said durable peace cannot be achieved through political arrangements alone. He maintained that while political solutions may address certain dimensions of the ongoing conflict, they are insufficient to resolve the deeper issues affecting society.
He stressed that lasting peace can only be built on humanitarian values, mutual love, compassion and respect for the coexistence of all communities. According to Meghen, genuine reconciliation requires people to recognise one another’s humanity and develop a collective commitment to live together peacefully.
Stating that peace is ultimately a human issue rather than merely a political one, Meghen observed that any long-term resolution would depend on understanding, trust and the willingness of all communities to coexist with dignity and mutual respect.
He emphasised that sustainable peace in Manipur would not emerge solely from negotiations or political settlements but from fostering harmony and strengthening the bonds of humanity among the people.
