KIM alleges attack on 2 Noney villages, reiterates Separate Administration demand

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes, on Thursday alleged that Teikhang and Lenglong villages in Noney district came under attack on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in arson and destruction. The claims could not be independently verified.

In a statement issued by its Information and Publicity Secretary, Kaybie Chongloi, KIM alleged that the incident occurred at around 2 pm and blamed Tangkhul-led factions of the NSCN (IM) and ZUF-K for the attack.

The organisation claimed that the incident reflected continuing security concerns in parts of the state and urged the Central Government to intervene. It alleged that repeated attacks on Kuki-Zo villages had exposed weaknesses in the existing security arrangement.

KIM also reiterated its long-standing political demand for a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory with Legislature for the Kuki-Zo community, contending that the prevailing situation had reinforced its position on the issue.

The organisation further urged the Centre to strengthen security measures in the affected areas, investigate the alleged incident, and take appropriate action against those responsible.

There was no immediate response from the State Government, security agencies, or the organisations named in the statement regarding the allegations. Independent verification of the claims was not immediately available.
