Yai Publications marked its entry into academic publishing today with the launch of Fundamentals of Colostrum and Neonatal Care in Farm Animals, a scientific book authored by veterinary researcher Dr. Shrilla Elangbam.
The book was released at The Classic Bistro, Khurai Chingangbam Leikai, Imphal East. Journalist Naorem Mohen of India Today NE attended the function as chief guest, while Dr. Yumnam Lokeshor Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dhanamanjuri University, introduced the publication. The programme was presided over by Dr. Naorem Thoinu, Founder of Yai Publications.
Speaking at the event, Naorem Mohen described the book as a significant contribution to veterinary science and livestock management. He said proper colostrum feeding and neonatal care are fundamental to improving the survival, immunity, growth and productivity of farm animals, making the publication a valuable resource for veterinarians, students, researchers and livestock farmers.
Mohen also highlighted Dr. Elangbam’s academic achievements, including her research on cross-species colostrum feeding in Vrindavani calves and her ongoing doctoral work on the application of artificial intelligence in livestock management and animal welfare.
Introducing the book, Dr. Lokeshor said it offers practical and scientific guidance on neonatal management, an area critical to animal health, welfare and farm productivity. He noted that effective neonatal care contributes significantly to improving livestock performance and economic returns.
Pakhomba Sairem of Yai Publications highlighted the author’s academic credentials, including qualifying ICAR-NET twice, securing All India Rank 3 in the ICAR-AICE JRF/SRF Ph.D. examination and receiving the ICAR Junior/Senior Research Fellowship. Dr. Elangbam has also authored several research papers, review articles and book chapters in veterinary science.
Presiding over the function, Dr. Naorem Thoinu said the publication reflects Yai Publications’ commitment to promoting academic and scientific writing from Manipur. She expressed hope that the initiative would encourage more scholars and researchers from the region to publish quality academic works locally.
